Artists Statement:

Susan Alt began drawing and painting in a Chicago studio in the early 1980s, when she was in the midst of a business career. She left her management consulting job in 1983 to paint full-time, then attended the American Academy of Art in downtown Chicago, completing her fine arts studies in 1986. She was fully occupied, however, with running a publishing, consulting and marketing business from 1986 until she retired in 2009, returning to painting to satisfy "the inner itch" that has been building for many years while she was in business. 

Susan brings to her artistic pursuits her wide-ranging interests and experiences. Susan has attended numerous workshops with well-known artists and reads widely about the Masters--ancient as well as more recent-- as well as contemporary artists. Susan loves sailing, and water -- large bodies of it! -- and her mission in life is to master the painting of water in watercolor.
